Job Stress

Just a little rant about my current work situation.

Basically i start here as a volunteer about 1 year and 7 months ago. I am grateful that they gave me a job, and cant thank them enough however over the past few months things have been getting out of hand.

Firstly, They have me doing every job under the sun apart from the one i am here to do, Then after i have done something or covered for them a day later they will come to me and start asking where something is "the deadline was yesterday" I don't think they understand i cant do everything at once. Here are a few jobs i do: Web Designer, Graphics Designer, Receptionist, Facilities Manager, Chefs Assistant they are the main ones i have to cover on a day to day basis.

Secondly, About 2 months ago all the staff go pulled into the board room, We all go told we were being made redundant this put all of us through allot of stress and emotion, about 2 weeks later we are told that none of us will be made redundant in the end, then about a week i think we got told we were at risk again, Upto now 3 out of 8 people have been made redundant.

Lastly, My manager Ok he's an a*%hole no other way to put it am sorry. He's on 30k/year and he just walks around the building all day eating and drinking hes also our facial ties manager so if anything comes up he comes to me and is like "wanna sort this for me". I remember when i had nothing on and i was sat there all afternoon so i did some work for a local charity whilst in work just updating there website etc. he come in asked what i was doing so on, he then starts saying things like "why donate money to them if there gonna die Anyways" "I hate it how crippled kids get to park closer in ASDA" i resisted the temptation to punch and just left I'm still waiting for an apology to this day.

TL;DR: I need a new job, they have me doing everything related not to my job title.

that sounds crazy :( is there any higher-ups you can complaint to? If there's any maybe you can talk to them first. Looking for a good job might be hard, but looking for a good employee is just as hard these days. You sound like an employee way too awesome to let go so there's always a possibility of them trying to work something out to make you more comfortable in the company :)

Erm.. not really i have my 2 directors but its gets even more fun here. My manager is engaged to my directors daughter so as you can see i have no chance.

I have tried looking for a new job but cause im only a Junior Web Designer i have 1 year 7 months experience thats not enough for most places.

When I first joined my job now, I hated my manager, so I up skilled on things he didn't know about and others did..... that eventually meant that I got a new manager, I've have 4 managers and I've only been here a year and half.....

Now I like my current manager and will be sticking with him until I get bored and then move onto another job :)

Just stick in there, opportunities will come :)

I have worked in a lot of industries, and most of my bosses have been real jerks!  There have been a few that have been awesome that I have looked up to.  My current supervisor is really cool, and we laugh and joke all day long but we get our work done.  The boss over her though, he is a *&^%&@&^ lol.  He is BIG control freak, and he worries about the dumbest things.  Like we can't eat lunch at our desk because it smells, or wear perfume or colonge.  And we had a huge issue with people using the dishwasher at lunch.  Oh, and we can't use our cell phones at our desk.  BUT people can be total screw ups and not know what they are doing and keep their jobs!

I've only ever had one really bad manager. He was my territory Manager as I was a manager myself at the time.

I worked 12 hour days for 26 weeks without a day off to keep the site running.

Then after that he refused my an annual pay upgrade.

I patiently explained the circumstances, were his fault as he wouldn't allow me to employ more staff.

Tough. . .was his response.

So I told him to politely put the job where the sun don't shine.

Nathan, I feel your pain!

I'm an accountant in training (official title is financial administrator) and I get bitched at for not washing mugs that I haven't even touched, I make around 10 coffees a day and I barely ever drink the stuff, and get asked to clean the toilet!

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I ask because you said junior web designer, and I'm wondering whether it's a common thing to discriminate against your age, or whether our place is just backwards (I'm 18, and apparently that makes me a child...).

Either way, it gets better if you start spitting in their drinks and stuff ;) (I'm totally kidding, obviously  )
