Was thinking of getting my oh to do it as he is more confident on the bike than me. He said no as can't have dog running on road.

hawgee
Welcome. 2 beautiful dogs. What age did u start teaching bikejoring and how easy is it. Was thinking of getting my oh to do it as he is more confident on the bike than me. He said no as can't have dog running on road. Hi, I started he at. About 9mts gradually , First outings were just running beside bike short distances she decided when when to go out in front , It was almost instinctive for her tbh, She is a very keen mouser so sometimes she would pounce sideways onto verges that was interesting lol She knows now that bikes for running and she will get a chance to hunt around . It took six outings for us both to understand each other , I would say one thing get full finger cycling gloves mitts are useless I've had tugline ( attatched to stem bar ) run through my fingers twice cutting them but only because of inexperience and mitts . I carry spare paracord doubles as long lead for when we have breaks, Canister of. Food and 1tr of water plasters and a snack I don't have any safe roads nearby but loads of woodlands And paths . My top tip is drop the saddle on your bike so you have an armchair effect I started with normal position and it was too Precarious for my liking this way I stabilize with my feet easily . ,I made my own tugline from paracord braided and Karabiners I don't use any arms or devices to keep it clear of bike and haven't had a problem , She is still very young so it's short sprints then jogs with lots of rests to go paddling or have a laze and a belly rub . OH still says maybe not a good idea as we have road bikes and so he will try running. Omg that will be funny, I have never seen him run in the 10yrs I have been with him. Val (Zebedee)
Hiya Joe, welcome to the forum. Great shot of your furbies enjoying a game of chase, they're loving it. Try & get to Bellahouston Park for some off lead fun, we went up there last year & met up with some great people & our dogs had a ball.
