sarahjng
At the moment we're using a basic red dingo click puppy collar, but debating whether to move on to a half check or a harness for our girl Freyja. She's nearly 15 weeks and a fair size ( she's a mally lol) and I'm wondering what age would be best for both ?. Bear has a half check and it has helped a lot, but the OH prefers the idea of a harness for his baby !
BingBlaze n Skyla
Skyla came to us at 14 weeks old wearing a harness , if u train her to walk nicely it won't matter what she wears , skyla actually walks better in a harness
HuskyGuerl
Both my girls wore a harness from age 4 months...and echo wore a harness around that time also...with collars they all spin around and get tangled and slip them during walks..but harnesses they seem more comfortable so walk better
Elyse
Personally I use a half-check. Mine pulls more with harnesses, even the 'non-pull' ones. It's important to learn how to use a half-check properly, and if it is used correctly I find it can be a very useful tool.
Leyka&Diva
I've used half check collars and harnesses since mine were between 12 and 16 weeks xx
LittleLuka
Luka wore a harness from 12 weeks on. i don't like using a collar, so i started out with a harness. i just donate my small ones to the local shelter as i move up sizes. ha
zoey
we tried the half check, didnt work out for us that good. We try and use the harness for "pulling" jobs, I want zoey to walk nicely, so i walk her on her collar.
LittleLuka
I would like to Add that Luka doesn't pull and never has. Whether this be from a non pull harness or not he doesn't.
Capolini1226
I walk Capo 6 miles a day. I always use his harness when walking him. It is a nice one that is "Padded" where the straps go under his front legs.I have 3 of them! That padding is a GREAT idea! The first harness DID NOT have that and it wore a quarters size hole/wound through his hair and into his skin! It had been doing that for several months! First my friend noticed a callous/scab! Then it turned into a raw wound!! It is amazing how my Dog[probably most huskies] showed no pain as this proccess unfolded!! It took going to the Vet b/4 it healed properly! I did not start using a harness until he was full grown[he is small for a male-50 lbs.]. Mostly because I did not know any better! When I take him out, I just use the Martingale collar. Great topic! ,ciao,,Roberto
