Books And Publishing Is Dead...or Is It??

That is awesome.

I've given up counting how many people I've converted to  e-readers.

Before they always said. . . "Oh, no it's soulless, I like to hold a book in my hands.

But. . . . they only ever read when on holiday.

After trying the e-reader they were suddenly reading. . .well EVERYWHERE

I've always been a voracious reader before and after moving to my Kobo and then Kindle.

I've always been comfortable with new technology

So as soon as I could get book on my PDA I did ( back in the 90's even if I had to scan and OCR the books myself)

Then onto my Phone (when the screen was big enough)

all this LONG before e-readers even existed.

It's not about the experience of the reading. . . . It's the reading.

The physical book publishing industry is dying as are libraries all around the world.

However books are not.

The publishing industry is experiencing a boom

It used to be very difficult to get a book published

Now self publishing is very easy thatnks to E-books.

When I was a Kid and needed information for school homework I went to the library

today, it's the internet, I have a library card. I haven't used it for nearly 20 years.

I haven't stopped reading just the way I read has changed.

sorry but I'm a traditional girl and still love the smell and feel of a brand new book.  I've got sooooo many piled upstairs and yes some are getting a bit tatty from being read too many times but I wouldn't swap them for the world.  This might make me sound like a freak but to me there's always been something a bit magical about going into a store full of books, yeah ok, so that is definitely really freaky but I definitely don't get the same feeling from a kindle.
