Char<3Kye
My boy is 3 and healthy and up to date with checks. Although he loves going out for walks and is very active when being walked( I walk him 5 miles daily) he is so chilled out at home and sleeps most of the day, I can entice him into playing tug of war or catch but he is happy to just sleep or laze around. I just wondered if other owners find this too? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wy Renegade
Yep, pretty common behavior. Mine are usually up and around in the early morning and late afternoon, because that is when I take them out for their daily walks and feed them. Other than that they spend a good part of their day asleep.
Char<3Kye
Yeh he is hyper in the morning as he always goes out first thing. You hear so much hype about them being high energy and destructive but it doesn't seem to be the case at all. Quite a misunderstood breed I guess Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wy Renegade
Oh no, not really, they can be very high energy and extremely destructive when bored and not given sufficient opportunities for exercise. The key to a nice calm, non destructive husky is plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
Char<3Kye
Then I guess I'm doing something right as my boy is as calm as a Hindu cow, excuse the fight club quote haha

Char<3Kye
Thanks guys I'm glad it's a normal trait it's put my mind at ease. I get worried as I had a husky pup once that had parvo and didn't survive despite me spotting it extremely early and his only symptom was lethargy. He had parvo when I bought him unbeknown to me as it was in the incubation period and it's always left me slightly paranoid Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Clare70
My two sleep a lot, though when awake they play really hard! I read somewhere that huskies sleep between 10-14 hours in a 24 hour period but think mine sleep for 16-18 hours per day. They get walked at least twice a day, plus toilet breaks, then the rest of the time they're awake they are throttling each other I used to worry about it too, think the dark nights don't help, though I'm not complaining
Gemski
Kodi is lazy too. He loves his walks, but also loves curling up or spreading out on the sofa! Sometimes if I leave for work at 6:30am, he won't even go out into the garden, and on the evenings before bed, I sometimes have to chase him out his bed to for a wee! Lazy boy! He's never destroyed anything (touch wood) and seems very content. He still has the usual husky traits, but people are often surprised when I tell them how lazy he is! michelle12
5PM until 8PM is crazy dog time, walks are imperative during this time and he is quite active. Other than that, he is pretty lazy most of the day and he hits the wall by 10PM and is ready for bed.
MarkoMKD
My girl is always active and ready to run like mad.. Just let her go off chain and the party starts. I wish she was a lil bit lazy so i can get some rest :/
Zenapaws
Zena is the same, sleeps most of the time she is in the house, she has a naughty spell after she has eaten but the rest of the time is like.......

davidjk
huskies get used to their routine, and in their down time they relax. I would only worry if your husky was climbing the walls as they would be under exercised.
Char<3Kye
This is how my boy spends 70% of his time after our 5 mile morning walk. I used to worry but now smile as I think he must be so content and relaxed. A tired husky is a happy husky so they say lol Covered in dog hair
sjwrx
Panda is fine just lazing around the whole day if someone is around. he has his usual hours where we walk or go to the dog park and that's when he knows and gets super excited. He is okay not crated as well as long as he is exercised before, if not he can get bored and get super destructive.
Rheakim
My 2 years old sibe is a lazy ass dog too! She spend her whole time sleeping but very excited whenever I ask her about going out. But I think she's not being this lazy the first time she came to my house. Is it normal?
