Mazz
Here is a link to a short and very interesting video on how with the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone National Park, the ecology has changed with respect to the rivers. http://msnvideo.msn.com/?channelindex=4&from=en-us_msnhp#/video/6a4694ae-d81f-40de-8a50-ba37705b077a EDIT And just to prove that the staff at Husky-Owners are all on the same page, visit Jos' post here:

Mike101
Retried it and yes this time I got the wolves video ...Watched it again too as it is the same one Jos posted. Amazing video, It just shows that man hasn't really got a clue what he is doing as regards to Mother nature, with regards to taking the wolves away in the first place. Thanks for posting Mazz
Wy Renegade
So an interesting side note; the video and the entire topic of Tropic Cascades is a very hotly debated topic in the field of ecology right now. Basically the folks that a pushing the idea have managed to gain a lot of popularity with the idea in the public, but lack much actual science to back their theory. Its a good example of how a idea lacking in science but with a lot of money behind it and the right maneuvering within the scientific field can gain wide spread popularity. The entire basis of their theory revolves around the notion that wolves are ambush hunters and that forces a change in the eating habits of large ungulates. In reality of course wolves are in no way, shape or form ambush hunters. Take away the ambush hunting and their theory suddenly is full of holes. We spent a week in Yellowstone this winter revisiting the study sites which supposedly support the theory, and when looked at with an unbiased eye, it is pretty obvious that these sites are exactly the opposite of what they claim.
