Zenapaws
Do you give your dog any fruit and veg as a treat. I know carrots can help to clean the teeth, as there anything else that can do them good like that. Zena likes Pineapple but that's all I've really give her. jmscott
· Hidden Hidden As far as dietary needs, dogs gain no benefits from plant matter. I've never heard of carrots cleaning teeth. If you want to give them as treats, its fine. Just remember to avoid the fruits and veggies that can make them sick. Link to comment
Beenz&Carlos
Frozen fruit and veg is good for keeping them entertained too Some raw diets seem to include potatoes as well as other fruit and veg
jmscott
· Hidden Hidden :/ Yeah, I've seen a lot of commercial and BARF diets that use them. Link to comment
Zenapaws
well I'm hardly going to give her anything that makes her sick, that's why I have asked if you give your dog anything in particular, I've heard carrot and bones help to clean the teeth and pineapple helps when they have had diarrhoea. BingBlaze n Skyla
Mine aren't too keen on fruit and veg but skyla has had some apple (no pips , they aren't good for dogs) and a bit of banana before
Jase
My breeder recommended carrot for for my puppy to chew on for entertainment and teeth cleaning they seem to do a good job. Mine is teething now so I have a couple of frozen ones that I will be trying tomorrow to see if they last longer and give some comfort.I know my previous dog would go nuts for watermelon and even loved lettuce. I think nutrition wise they add little value but for adding entertainment and helping fill up the greedy-guts dog to lose weight they are useful. Gemski
Definitely a vote for carrots here. When Kodi was a pup, I also parboiled quartered potatoes and froze them when he was teething, he loved them.

Let me know what your pup thinks of them, I might just have to freeze a few for my
fluffystuff
I know it's not fruit or vege, but plain yoghurt is good for pup's if they have loose stools too
Stormy
I add in veg etc to my ones diets sometimes Mine love carrots frozen in the summer are great!
mydiamond
Diamond loves apple and pear, but that's all he gets really as they're rather pricey and he gains no nutritional benefit from fruits/veggies
