Bambi92
Does anyone get there nails done? What's your experiences been like? I'm thinking about having my nails done tomorrow the only thing putting me off is the last time I had them done I almost punch the so and so in the face because she cut my fingers and made them bleed and didn't care that she did. I've looked at reviews for a place close by and there all good so I'm thinking about going there and seeing if they can do paw prints. I've only had my nails done twice one was a good experience and the above the bad. What have you had done and how did they look (if you have pics please share ) Sorry for the random thread lol curious to see what the other side of the pond is like Stole a few images from Google that I like but not sure if they could do it I like the first one the most your opinion? Emma
I probably shouldn't of answered this thread as I don't go to the salon for the very reasons you've described! Don't fancy getting my fingers butchered, lol. Think that top one is definitely not done freehand, would probably need a template of some sort or some ready made falsies but it does look nice. Carly
I used to get my nails done religiously, then I qualified to "gel" myself and started doing my own (also had my own salon for a time). I stopped doing them because it simply wreaks your nails unless you continually have them done (no matter how much they tell you the product is gentle on your nails) and having my hands in products all the time I just couldn't keep them. Anyway, after having not had my nails "done" for about 10 years I decided to give it another go even though I knew the consequences as I had been struggling to keep my own nails at their normal long length for some reason, anyhoo long story short the girl who did them bodged them so badly I cried all the way home and my poor husband didn't know what to do with me to console me. He rang them and well, I can't really go into details as it's a family forum lol That was 3 months ago and my nails are still suffering :0(

mydiamond
I really don't see the beauty in nail polish I have a friend that colors all her nail black, and I think it looks scary. My cousin colors her nail glossy white once, and I asked why would she put correction tape on her nails

Bambi92
I didn't know they had stickers lol I'm not one to be girly only time I've really dressed girly was for weddings haha What's shellac? I've heard of it but don't know the difference lol Last time I had them done I had acrylics and they looked really nice felt funny though my nails took a few weeks to go back to what they were normally but they haven't been the same for years I use to be able to just paint and shape my real nails and people would think they were fake haven't been able to do that for ages Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Kells xx
Shellac is gel nails... They last for weeks.... A good nail tech will moisturize your hands... Apply a cuticle oil, then paint and use a stencil for the paws... Look around and go online and see reviews x Sent from my Windows Phone 8S by HTC using Tapatalk
Alicia Doyle
Shellac is a gel polish on natural nails they are a small bit raised compared to a regular polish but not as much as gel nails, the paw prints are easy to do if you find a technician that specialises in nail art , i will post 3 pics one of a file and polish, one of my brand of gel polish (almost same as shellac) and one of gel nails so you can see the difference File and polish Gel polish (shellac) Gel nails Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Chula
I just started having my nails shellac'd. I'm nervous about it doing damage to them, but I have read/been told that the damage is USUALLY caused by too much scraping and buffering, or people peeling their polish off. I've only had it done twice, but I really do like how it looks. It's very shiny, and it doesn't chip off or peel. I had these done two weeks ago, and the only reason you would know it wasn't done yesterday is because my nails are growing. I'm planning on a polish change tomorrow and I'll be interested to see how my nails look. The way this salon removes the polish there is very little scraping. They use a small piece of cotton soaked in remover then put it on the nail and wrap the nail in foil. When they take the foil off, the polish comes right off. Supposedly this is better than soaking your hand in acetone.
Alicia Doyle
Sounds like you've found a good salon and those nails look good its all about the removal, either type of removal that you have described is fine to use once the tech knows what he/she is doing, you are correct peeling the nails is awful it is highly recomended to wait until you have time to go back to the salon for removal Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Alicia Doyle
Nail varnish isnt too bad emma its more the peeling of gel polish (shellac) and gel nails that causes damage, saying that i picked off my gel nails today tut tut but i know how to look after my nails after damaging them however i would never encourage a client to do this Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Bambi92
Damn thing didn't tell me anyone replied to this lol I'm still looking for someone that does nail art that doesn't have either bad reviews or are crap lol At the moment the news are doing a thing on nail salons around here that are using stuff in there shellac that is damaging peoples nails and making it go further so kind of makes me think twice about it lol I wouldn't mind attempting To do them myself but I don't think it would work I don't know if I'd do it right it'd be handy if I could do it properly. Is there anything you need to know to be able to do it Alicia? Or just a lot of practice? I wouldn't mind learning how to do the acrylics and all that I'm getting there'd be some form of course or something? Alicia Doyle
You have to be careful who you pick, im on a fórum for beauty professionals and Im hearing a lot about these NSS salons i think theyre called that do your nails really fast, they tell u theyre using shellac but its something different, ect. So id recomend do your research, try asking your friends or family where they go, or try searching online like using a fórum that we have here boards.ie and everyone comments in your area whats good ect. Also Im doing it from home until i can find a job, on my fórum theres a lot of well established proffessionals who do it from home using only the best products, who can give you more time than a salon can at cheaper than salon prices, As for doing them yourself as a technician im not supposed to reccomnend it, but sure you can, thats what you tube is for, i took courses in everything, i stuck to the same company and took a course in gel nails, gel polish, nail art, theres a lot of good tutorials out there, nail art is def sonething you could be doing from home, you could do it all from home But you do need to know what your doing not to damage the nail, the courses i did can be suite costly, my gel nail course was 600e came with the kit, my gel polish course came free when i purchase the kit, my nail art course was 50e with a free kit, also do you know people are using sharpies now for nail art, ill show you the one i did last night its my first time doing it, only prob was i dont have 100% rubbing alcohol to erase mistakes as i use a different brand to shellac, and when i put the top cost over it all smudged and i had to start again, and not put any topcoat on the nail with sharpie design so dont know how long itll last, heres a pic, Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
