Sashagirl
Does anyone know the exact type of furminator that's best for huskies? I went to the website and there is quite a lot to choose from.... Thanks. Also, is it worth buying/using?
Andy
They are best used with care as they can strip the guard (coloured) hairs. but with really fluffy pooches they can be beneficial
Mazz
We use a rake brush. Leaves to outer guard hairs intact and pulls out the loose undercoat. Furminators work best on single-coat dogs from my experience.
Emma
We've got both the furninator and an undercoat rake. The furninator does seem to get out more fur, however as mentioned it can be pretty lethal to guard hairs if not used cautiously. The anti tangle rake does work well too and the dogs definitely seem to prefer it.
Storm Angel n Auroras Mum
I too use both the rake and furminator. Generally only use it in coat blow season
Jay
I use the furminator during coat blow season ,and I use the yellow one. I suggest getting it on amazon.com as it is MUCH cheaper than in the stores!
robke
We only use the undercoat rake...1) both of mine hate the thing with a passion so much so that we cannot even get close to them. 2) we found that the rake is just plain cheaper...being a tight bumbed Dutchman that always sounds good to me... Sarah
I use the undercoat rake too. I think with the furminator it depends on the coat. It ruined kimbas but is a bit less harsh on kaisers. Koda my black and white has a perfect coat for it though but I already have 5 brushes lol sent via husky howls from my mobile
gypsydal
I'm too scared to get a furminator coz I don't think my girls will like it. I use an undercoat rake and even with that I sonetimes have to chase em round the garden until they lie still. The rake works just fine though
Sashagirl
I'm still not sure of her coat type. Does it change much after 5 months of age? This is her now. Will she stay this way? If so, then I may just get a regular undercoat rake from the pet store.
Sarah
It looks short. does anyone live near you that has one you could try? Or take her to pets at home and see if you can try one? sent via husky howls from my mobile
