LuLu
Hi all, my puppy is currently 8 weeks old. Until she gets her final shots we are going to leave her at home in a play pen while we are at work. But will have a releative coming around twice a day to take her out and take her to potty. Once she is 12 weeks I am tossing up wether to leave her in her play pen when at work, or taking her to my parents. They live 2 minutes away and have a 18 month old beagle x pug. I am leaning more towards taking her to my parents so she can have some socialization time and hopefully the two of them together will create less seperation anxiety. Thoughts? Mazz
I too would opt to take her to you parents. I would suggest that you introduce the two before hand and make sure they get along.
mydiamond
I agree with Dave. Make sure the two get along before leaving her there
Andy
Good idea. She will learn socialisation and also (hopefully) pick up good potty habits from the older dog
Emma
Another vote for taking her to your parents. At 12 weeks she will still be very young and probably just getting to the stage where she's jumping over the playpen and teething on your furniture, electrical wires etc.... Would be much safer for her at your parents, it's really great that they've offered to help. [emoji2]
Chula
Is this something you will be able to do long term? While I agree with the concept of socializing and having someone there to watch her, if she's going to be alone once she hits 6 months, a year, or whenever she gets to be too much for your parents, it may be harder to train her to be ok by herself. I would probably use the option to have her fo to your parents sometimes, but would also work on getting her comfortable with what will be her routine long-term.
