Husky Always Throwing Up??

Ok before anyone asks YES we have taken him to the vet and they said nothing is wrong and wanted me to buy IAMs...no way. Anyway we feed our two huskies Three Dog Bakery's baked to nature food we use to feed Earthborn. Our female husky is fine she can eat anything but our male seems to have "cronic throwup" for about 2 1/2 years now its so frequent that he even tells me he needs to go outside to do it..I was reading that maybe he can't digest hard kibble fast enough to keep him full because its only yellow bile that he throws up, he is a picky eater and skips meals but even when he does eat hours later he throws up yellow bile, we have tried uping his food so he gets alot when he actually eats but it doesnt help. Considering wet food...anyone can help??

Thanks!

Yeah I read that huskies have high acid levels, I'm just so worried about him, I mean he isn't different in anyway he runs jumps plays, all potty is normal he just throws up once a day. I was think of maybe soaking his food and adding a lil pumpkin. He is only 4 and I'm worried about the long term effect on his throat with all of this throwing up. How much pecid should I give?

I'd give your vet a call, but ours told us a 10 mg tablet is the right dose for mine. She's about 42 pounds. I don't give it to her on a regular basis, but I have given it to her when she's eating grass in order to make herself vomit or when she's on antibiotics.

Aside from seeing a different vet, how fast does your boy eat? If he gulps food down really fast and gets too much air while he eats this could be a reason he cant hold his food down. If hes a fast eater a slow feed bowl may help.  If your also worried it might be the kibble, try and mix it with wet food. I find with my boy  chews his food better when its mixed rather than practically inhaling it. Good luck !

He takes about 30mins to eat a bowl of food lol he picks a piece of kibble out and chews like its the most nasty thing...such a butt lol we want to try wetting his food down and if that doesnt help we will try vet again, its just last time we went to vet we left with a $400 dollar bill and a recommendation for IAMS food...He also is very timid of strangers so would have to muzzle him and I hate to put him through that for no reason...poor guy :/

I will probably sound like a broken record to some here  :) but, I would get him onto some probiotics asap. The constant vomiting and bile will be playing havoc with the natural gut flora needed for good digestion. Half to one capsule of human type probiotic will be best. Get one with the most strains of bacteria in it. The better ones are all sold refrigerated. As this has been going on for such a long time you could try a two week course of probiotics and this may be all he needs to normalise things with his gut and may save a vet visit.

I personally would also be looking at switching vets as others have mentioned  to see what other advice can be given or if there is any underlying problem that needs immediate attention.

I hope things improve soon and hope for some positive updates.

Never heard of probiotics!! What is a good brand?? I will go buy some after work!!

I don't know what brands you have - Inner Health Plus is good, but just ask at the health food store.

I just read about the inner health Plus and it looks good! Think I'll try it! He is about 50lbs any recommendation on how much to give?

Give half for the first day or so, then try one, if he doesn't get the runs then stick with one for 2 weeks, if he gets the runs then half. I give my boy around half but he doesn't have any real issue that I am treating. Just open up the capsule and sprinkle it on his food or mix with a little yogurt or honey so you are sure he is eating it. Keep the unused half for the next meal.

Khaleesi was sick almost every day on kibble but she was throwing up actual kibble so I don't think its the same thing. We put her on raw food and she's fine now. I'd definitely go and get a second opinion from another vet or go and see a specialist. Poor thing. Hope he's feeling better soon x

I don't want to speak to soon BUT the probiotics seem to be curing his problem!!!! He still heeves like he is gonna throw up (not as bad of a heeve) and then he almost like burps and then doesnt throw up!!! We have only been on them for 3 days and seeing this much improvment I'm beyond excited!! Fingers crossed it continues to help him!!

Well that is sounding very positive :)  I would expect to see results after a week but any visible progress is great news. It does sound like it is an acid reflux problem so hopefully things continue to improve. I will look forward to the next update.

I am a firm believer that a healthy gut leads to a stronger immune system and many problems can be improved with probiotics, yoghurt is okay but doesn't have the oomph that the probiotic powder or capsules have.

If the reflux continues after another week, you can give her some slippery elm which will protect the mucous coating of the stomach, slippery elm acts as a prebiotic which will feed the probiotic. It is very good when combined with probiotics.

See how you go, if you want to pick up some slippery elm powder I can help you with how to use it.
