michelle12
We don't come across too many huskies in my area. Whenever we go to the dog park or out walking and see another husky, I always want to meet them and talk with the owner. I always feel like we have a bond, they get it. Whenever you come across another husky, do you feel like you have an instant bond with them because they also live with a husky or am I the crazy husky lady? Andy
Oh, No that's quite normal. I've been known to pull the car over and run back down the street to talk to someone I just passed with a Husky You do however, occasionally meet an owner who is really rude because, they feel that they have a monopoly on these lovely dogs and that no-one else is allowed to have one near them. and. . . . This is the only breed of owners that I've encountered, that actively wants to get together for meets to get the dogs together to meet and walk and play. Do you ever hear of poodle, Staffie or dacshund owners driving halway across the country to let their dogs meet and socialise with others of the breed just for a few hours ?? WE do
NOBELHOWLUC49
We have made really good friends with a couple we met on a walk. Lisa had just had an op on her foot so she was sitting in the car whilst hubby took Asher for a walk.... She said she had seen us walking along and was really hoping we would walk past..... we did and now we have two really good friends... We look after Asher sometimes and if we ever had an emergency we know that we could rely on them to take care of our two... (maybe 3 soon).. not told them about my probably crazy idea to get another one.. or my other half for that matter.... breaking him in gentle but I think he is already there... ha ha.. So its good to talk to other Husky owners they are a friendly bunch.... round here....
Clare70
Up until last weekend we had never encountered another husky here, so when we saw little Luna a 3 month old puppy I just had to go over and 'chat'. It turns out the owners are English too and I told them about the forum. I gave them my phone number in case they need a baby sitter And when she's bigger she can come and play with my lot in the dog run
Mazz
I think Huskies are quite unique in the dog world. As such, they bring out a uniqueness in their owners. Like Andy said, we drive hours to meet up with other Husky Owners; quite unique and so unlike those who have other breeds. So I think to answer your question, a simple yes applies. Yes there is an instant bond, and yes we are all crazy.

Martian
Not come across many Husky's, (whilst walking mine or simply walking about), but on the odd occasion that I have I have sensed a 'common bond' and I suspect that this is because we all share that unique 'Husky Ownership' experience which is so unlike that of any other breed ownership, (does anybody know who really 'owns' who)?! There are always a few people who do not fully appreciate the full implications of taking on a Husky and that usually becomes evidently clear - sometimes even before you converse with them - as their handling of their dogs is enough to give the game away, (although I am no expert, myself, and I occasionally find myself in a 'battle of wits' with mine)! This forum certainly highlights that those with common interests do tend to be of similar nature and are, therefore, more likely to get on with one another. Being an avid 'biker' I can also state a similar sense of camaraderie within the motorcycling community although, (just like the Husky fraternity), there are always a few who 'let the side down' and give motorcyclists a bad name. Now on the lookout for Husky's close to our new home!!
Emma
There's quite a few people with huskies here but unfortunately all the ones I see have theirs running around off lead so I don't really mix with them too much as ice would go nuts if an off lead dog jumped him. If I've only got bear or no dogs at all then I'll chat a bit more. [emoji2]. Hubby sees lots when out and about in his job and has recommended the forum countless times, not one single person joined up, lol.
Jase
I've met a few and it is great to share similar experiences and there is always a great camaraderie between owners who have gone through the same trials and tribulations of husky ownership. I meet lots of different dog owners at our fenced in dog park but I always have the greatest respect for husky owners as they are without doubt one of the most challenging breeds to train and look after. sarahjng
I will admit I have followed people down the street and crossed the road like some mad stalker when I see a husky, sometimes I worry myself lol. I find its doubly hard when they let their husky off lead, their either incredibly snotty, of the my dog would never .... or unbelievably ignorant, he's fine let them play. Both make me want to bite someone !
