Bambi92
As some may remember both my knees are buggered well today around 2pm I got a call from the hospital to say they had a cancelation for this Friday! Now I don't mind the part where I'm possibly getting my right knee fixed depending on if it works or not but I have to organize someone to care for my son and I have no way to get to physio afterwards so far I've worked out next week but after that I'm on my own unless my mum can come down from Queensland I'm scared I'll be on my own not being able to walk properly and not being able to look after my son the surgery isn't bothering me I want that over and done with only to have my other knee done when ever I get it done. Someone tell me it's possible to have knee surgery and be able to look after a 16 month old toddler that is running around now.... Really wish I had this done before I had my son Sorry for the rant no one else will listen to me Lol

sarahjng
I'm not sure how things work down under, but here there are people who can help. Have they given you an idea of recovery time ? To and from the hospital... can they help to arrange something ? Is there a patient liaison service you can contact. Is there a friend's of ....... who could help. Your son, does he go to nursery yet, could they extend his hours ? If not, is there someone he could have a holiday with ? Do you have local friends who could help out ? No one can just drop their lives, but most people could find an hour or two to help out with shopping etc. Most important thing is to make your place easy now. Stairs will be a nightmare, can you stay on one level, going up and down stairs on your bum with a little one IS possible, but bloody hard work. Rearrange the kitchen so you can reach the things you use alot. Will you have crutches or a stick, if so, buy a cheap pack of kids stickers, your little one can help to decorate it, and make it a fun thing. Contact family and child services, if you are going to be disabled by this for a while, they may be able to help with a carer. Are there and kids you know well and trust to be in your house, not to babysit, but as a helper. If your laid up a youngster who can make a bottle or a cup of tea will be a godsend

If your laid up a youngster who can make a bottle or a cup of tea will be a godsend There saying if the surgery goes to plan is a 3-6 month recovery period I am make it less if I push myself hard but I'm not willing to do that as I can make it à lot worse that would be a nightmare if that happened. I think on the forms I filled out there was a part about a nurse that would come in for how ever long it is a day but they only help with cleaning and showering if needed (mum does this type of caring) so there really is no point on using it because I don't want a random person in my house to do things my partner can do when he gets home from work and I don't know about any other services they offer this hospital has a bad habit of not telling you anything until it's too late even if you ask them about it. As for day care we can't afford that at the moment and he doesn't go yet. The only stairs we have are three to get in our front door and three to get out the back which will be a pain because there higher then normal steps... The only that can help me are my partners mum and his sister in law but they have a lot of stuff happening now so I don't know if they will be able to... Thank you for the advice And Jase thanks I'm hoping if mum can't come down that they can offer some form of help I can't exactly take a bus to my physio appointments 25 mins away Lol unless they can get me into the physio that sent me to the specialist in the first place which would be so much easier as it's only 5 mins away

Thanks My knee cap pops in and out, it moves side to side and I'm missing part of the v shape (can't think of its name) that the knee cap moves over due to damage from my knee cap popping in and out for years Thanks Liv

You really need to take it easy. xxx I'm leaving hospital soon I think I'll go home to bed and have a sleep I'm so tired didn't get much sleep last night. I walked up the stairs twice with my crutches so I'm safe to go home I feel really light headed though so I have to be careful I think that's from not eating properly
