Mike_1809
Basically what the title says. After seeing many more photos, and compared to my old Husky Skyla at 3 months, he seems awfully small. If anyone can help me out here it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike P.S. mydiamond
Too young to tell. But so far, judging from shapes of muzzle, ear, eye and paw, I am looking at a purebred Husky. May I ask if you rescued or purchased him? If you purchased him, are you sure he comes from a good breeder?
Mike_1809
He was purchased. And regarding the breeder, I couldn't tell you as he was recommended from a friend of a friend who saw him for sale, as I was looking at Huskies at the time. BingBlaze n Skyla
He looks pure husky , depends on the lineage really some huskies are smaller than others
jmscott
· Hidden Hidden A good breeder would have provided you with the Eye and hip scores for your puppy's parents. Honestly, your puppy looks like he just turned 8 maybe 9 weeks old. A well bred dog will be within the standard for the breed and can appear smaller than what most think a sibe should look like. What paperwork was your puppy sold with other than your guarantee and contract? Link to comment
Mike_1809
Unfortunately he didn't come with any. I'm personally not experienced with buying dogs. The only reason we went for a Husky was that our old dog was a Husky, and we love the breed and know it well. I just unfortunately don't know the business side of it too well. And at 9 weeks he was tiny. Although he has doubled in size in 4 weeks since then.
mydiamond
I'll be blunt: it doesn't sound like you bought from a good breeder. I have two theories: 1) They lied and you picked him up at an age far younger than they tell you, and he's actually 9 weeks right now. 2) He's a result of backyard breeding haphazard that created one of the smallest Huskies ever seen. My Diamond is one. He's a male purebred Siberian Husky with papers, weighing only ~15 kilos and standing only 41 cm from the ground to the shoulders at 5 years old
NOBELHOWLUC49
He just looks like the cutest ball of husky fluff to me. He is putting on weight which is good. Noah is big for a Husky and stands head over heals taller over most of the Huskies we have met. He looks a lively healthy boy. Has he been and had his vacs yet??? Might be worth just asking the vet to check him over.
Mike_1809
The lying about the age could be why to be honest. The woman didn't really look that unhappy about him going. Will have to see how he ages over the next 4 weeks. And he had his first set of his injections 3 weeks ago. He is due for the remainder next Saturday. I'll speak to the vet about this
Michelle Sopi
Hi Mike, in what part of Manchester are you?
Dan
Definitely looks younger to me also. Completely possible he's just going to be a tiny dog too though. They grow very rapidly after around 3 months. It's unlikely you'll be able to know age for sure if the breeder lied to you
Mike_1809
I'm based in Oldham. And I guess it's best to judge him for another 4 weeks. If he grows big, I guess we'll know he's younger
Rachael_Astro
Hi Mike IF the pup has been taken from it's mum too early, it would be a good idea to take him to puppy socialisation classes as this is what he would have learnt from his litter. Also I'd recommend getting a dog trainer as a pup leaving it's litter too early can result in behavioural issues such as separation anxiety. Hopefully that won't be the case though
sarahjng
First of all, what a cutie, almost the cutest puppy ever lol. It's a bit hard to tell his size with nothing as a comparison, what's his weight ? Some puppies are bigger, some smaller, even within the same litter. We had 10, and at six and a half weeks our biggest pup was 10.9, our tiny one was only 8.6, same parents same food, etc, just different pups, can you put up a picture of him next to something we all know the size of ? Clare70
I agree with Carly, he is the sweetest puppy I've ever seen TBH does it really matter how big he gets? As long as he's happy and healthy...... I would be very peeved with the people you bought him from, they should be strung up imo.
Danrose93
I have a pure white Husky too! called Ghost. I am in the same situation, my breeder did not have any paperwork but I am sure he is a pure husky. Mine was this big at 10 weeks old. and the one with him sat down is at 13 weeks

mydiamond
LOL you're holding him because he won't stand still right Well yeah he does look more like an 8-9 weeks old pup. But like you said, let's just wait and see. EDIT: Jamie has a great idea: do you have a picture of his first day at home? That would help loads
SnowDogLove
I have the same issue with my puppy Roux. She is extremely small for her age! Here she is when we got our pictures taken a month ago at about 17 weeks maybe? And here is Cara at 12 weeks, and Meeko at 10 weeks. Like, WHAT!? I know I don't have an issue with the breeder, she has been breeding for a long time. Roux's dam was pretty short but looked roughly the size a Husky is otherwise, and her dad looked like the standard size as well, both very good looking dogs. The size difference in her just has me stunned.
SnowDogLove
Oh and I should probably add that your puppy is adorable and I'm jealous that you have an all white Husky! I want to get one one day also.
Guinnessman
What a lovely cute pup. I don't have any puppy pics of Logan, perhaps I'll save yours and pretend. People always say Logan is small for a Husky, but at 35kg not sure I agree.
