Sapphira_thorne
My girl will eat her raw food just fine, but not kibble or bones or treats. She will only eat certain things of raw as well. Am I doing something wrong? She just gave birth three days ago, and this has only been since then. Thanks! xx
Emma
I know that ordinarily huskies tend to be fussy eaters and will pick and choose over their food but can't really comment too much about if whelping affects appetite as i don't know anything about it. Mazz
Pregnant mothers need to be on a special diet prior to giving birth, and on through the feeding period. Normally, puppy food is what a lot of breeders feed the mothers. The reason is to help the mother produce the needed milk, and to keep her up to the task. The physical strain on birthing is very taxing on the mother, as you can imagine. It may be that she is simply pooped out. You've got to get her to eat. I would give her some plain yogurt, and see if she will take that. I don't know any breeders that feed raw, so can't help you on that front. sarahjng
Our girls on a raw diet and had her first litter at the beginning of September, we did try her on the puppy and mummy food, but it just gave her terrible diarrhoea. As long as she's having a good mix on her raw and eating plenty of that you shouldn't have too many problems. Our girl went mad for chicken, we free fed, and she ate constantly, even so she lost 10 kgs we did see the vet and she was fine, just skinny lol. He did warn us about feeding too much liver however, apparently it can pass on and build up in the pups. A word of warning for you, start clipping their claws early and keep an eye on her breasts, claws and teeth are SHARP ! Our freyja was scratched to hell and back.
