Before I went in for surgery almost 3 weeks ago now sasha was fine she would go out through the laundry and come in with no problem I went in for surgery and was in for almost a week since then she has refused to go out she will just drop to the ground and go almost completely stiff if we touch her she will try and bite unless I touch under her snout. Shes acting like something is scaring her but nothing has changed in there except the cats litter box so I moved it out and she still did it. Three days ago she went out without a problem multiple times, my mum was down from qld helping me for 10 days she left two days ago and sasha has gone back to refusing to go out I have to drag her which I hate doing but if I don't she won't go out. I've tried food, toys, her leash thinking maybe she will think we are going for a walk nothing is helping her. Is she relating going outside to us leaving and not coming back? Is there anything I can try keeping in mind that I can't walk properly because of knee surgery? She hasn't been outside since 10.30pm last night it's now 2.41pm she hasn't been to the toilet since I can't drag her out because she tries to take my leg out from under me and no one will be home with us until after 5.30 pm. I'd love to have a trainer or behavoural specialist come and assess her but I just can't afford it. Any advice is much appreciated I'm at a loss and I feel so bad for her she is so scared and I dont want her to go back to having seizures because it's stressing her out so much Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The only thing I can think of is to try and make a real happy song and dance about going out side with you going first and then staying outside with her for a while. Even if you sit outside on a chair and call her with some treats. Or if you sit outside with a cup of tea or something so she will see it as being non threatening. Bambi92 Posted December 24, 2014 Author Report Share Posted December 24, 2014 Me and mum tried to go out with her but Sasha thought laying on my bed pretending to sleep was a better idea Lol. It hasn't been to bad lately it's been nice except for one day where it was hot and she went out fine that day. I can't work out what it is that is scaring her I've moved everything out except the dryer and the washing machine but she still won't go. I got in trouble off the Dr yesterday for not using my crutches like I should oops but it doesn't hurt so its going well Lol She doesn't really have a favorite treat. she loves dentasticks but she wouldn't even go out for that. Eating and drinking fine she hasn't had much water today though she just wants to sleep. Put your chair right outside the door and sit and relax, just sit don't call her, if she comes over to see what your doing, great, if not, don't worry. Huskies are nosy, eventually she will want to know why mum is outside, don't make a big deal about it but if she comes out say hello. If she sits or whatever she gets a treat, the next day you can move your chair a little further away, same thing. Make sure she sees you going in and out so she knows your coming back. To humans you were gone a week, to a dog it was an entire year ! I try to think of my two as drama queen/diva teenagers I think it helps me understand them lol. They're your dog. Your their world. As humans we have other things in our lives, jobs, bills, families, but for them, they have us... that's it, sure someone else can feed them and walk them, but it's not the same.
