hurihusky
Hi everybody! I hope you all are enjoying the holidays I just had a quick question. Mayka is almost 5 months old now and when she's not playing, eating, or on walks, she'll sleep. Since I live in a warm climate area she likes to sleep on the hard floor with her tummy touching the floor. I started noticing that she has less fur on her elbows. I asked the vet on her last check up and she told me that it was normal for larger dogs and that she'll most likely get a callus eventually. I got her a bed and her crate has a bed in it too. But she still prefers the floor. Do your huskies have calluses on their elbows? Is there any way to prevent this? I'm unsure as to what to do. If I should just let it be or if there's is something I should be doing. I would really appreciate your input on this. I was looking through several threads and I wasn't able to find a similar topic at least for a long while now :/ Thanks in advance!
Emma
Ice prefers to sleep on soft things so has no bald spots but Bear only lays on the hard floor and she has bald spots on both elbows and mild calluses too.

hurihusky
Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear that this is not unusual. By any chance, do any of you remember at what age your dogs started getting them?
nstack1228
I think he has always had them, honestly can't think of a time he didn't and he loves just laying on all different surfaces
Emma
Bears started sometime when she was one year old. Don't remember them being there when she was little.
