BingBlaze n Skyla
How old is he? Usually puppies go through fear stages but they can just generally be timid depending on their nature

Emma
Both of mine were very timid when they were little. Once all jabs are complete then it's a good thing to regularly take them out to lots of new places and situations to help de-sensitize them. Over time they should become less afraid of new things. I remember when it first snowed when Bear was a pup and she saw a snowman, she practically had heat failure, she was terrified. Now she just looks at them and isn't bothered at all. Pups are also pretty mouthy and like to nip at you at lot. Some do it more than others. Bear and Brooke were not too bad but Ice was a chomping demon! I've heard that yelping to imitate their siblings can help to deter them.

Carly
Holly is still timid from time to time with people she doesn't know, she's just over a year old now and she has a particular aversion to tall people and people wearing hats! on the other hand Skye will love everyone irrespective of whether or not they want to be loved lol
sibe1
Welcome ! As mentioned in previous post, socialization is very important. My oldest one was never really timid around people or dogs, my puppy now 6 months old is very timid around people, dogs not so much. We have been taking him on walks where there are people to meet, although it is hard to find people that will actually approach a dog that looks like a wolf *sigh*, anyway he is gradually just ignoring them on our walks. He is also a biter when he wants attention or when we are playing, yelping and ignoring works for me. OW! and then arms crossed and back turned to the puppy for a couple of minutes tells him I will not play when he bites. I do have to say that I play rough with both my dogs so biting ( actually mouthing) is permitted, it is when he bites hard that it is not acceptable and only mouthing when we play not at other times. My oldest quickly understood the difference and Rocky is slowly complying, he gets it he just is a husky and sometimes doesn't want to follow the rules. milosmum
My Milo was extremely timid when we got him, he still is to an extent but we found that if we carried on regularly taking him out socialising him with other puppies and dogs that he loved to play. When we spoke to a dog trainer she said that the pulling away from people especially on lead was because he was saying to me "you're the alpha you sort this out" Good luck with everything! SnowDogLove
Hello and welcome! We'd love to see pictures of all of your furbabies! A more hands-on approach to biting that I have used with my puppies (that seems to have been successful with all of them) is squeezing their snout when they bite you too hard. This is not to hurt them, just enough to let them know that what they are doing is not okay - it's the same technique that their mother would use on them if they bit her too hard, which no doubt you might have noticed since Mom and Dad are living with you!
