Morning To you all

My name is Dora,I am 3yr old cross siberian husky with GS, I was in the dog house for a long time about 12 to 18 months  (rescue dog ), i do have some manners, I am house trained,i will wait untill told to eat my food, i am little confused at the min. I keep waking my master up at any hour and wont leave him alone till he come down stairs and sleeps with me. While my master is at work i am good girl most of the time, I do howl at times when he leaves but not much, my mummy looks after at home all day, we go for long walks, we talk to other dogs at time but i get bit excitend  and over do it, i dont like dogs going near my bottom, I get worried but I dont know why, where I live there is a lot (about 70% small dogs) of small dogs people are afraid i will hurt there dog so they hide from me but I know they are there

I dont do treats while I am out, but when my mummy tells me I am good girl  I give her the lick while she pats me

Mummy question

When Dora come from the rescue centre she was afraid of everything, wind riain snow (not people she loves men)  terrible food problems  most we have solved, she is still a fair weather dog

great in car, has done a runner few times has been found outside houses where children live (we live in village )

seperation propblems

she looks down in the mouth when hubby is at work

jealousy

if hubby cuddles me she gets in between us

Other than that she is lovely dog like nothing more than belly rubs cuddles, and carrots

would getting her a pal  help

On balance, I'd say "yes". My boy (we have two more boys now but he's still "my boy"!) had terrible SA and was much more settled with more dogs, though he can still get anxious (and we've had him 5 years). There's a tendency for only dogs to get what I call 'single dog syndrome' and resent another dog coming in - usually just a jealousy thing and usually all the symptoms disappear in a relatively short time as they realise that actually they don't get ignored and overlooked but sharing (treats, toys, love, etc) can be a new experience

Bear had terrible SA.  To the point where when we had her microchipped, they tried to take her to another room for it to be done (not normal procedure at the vets etc...but she was chipped at our local rescue).   She got halfway there and then saw we weren't following and went berserk.  She had to be glued to our side 24/7 or else the world was ending, at least in her eyes.   Don't even get me started on the damage to our house.   Let's just say carpet shredding was a speciality and owing to her fear of confinement, crating wasn't a viable option for her.

As she settled, very gradually she gained confidence and came to accept that when we left the house things would be OK.  Took about a year for her to be consistently ok with us leaving.

We got ice as a companion for her but in her case it made no difference to her.  It was her people that she was desperate to be around.   She's still like that now tbh.  She'd much rather curl up next to her humans than ice.  Lol.   Can't say that I blame her, because as much as I love him, he's a little rat bag at times! :D

In contrast, ice is completely besotted with Bear.  He hates to be apart from her but obviously there are times when he has to be like when she goes to the vets.....he gets very upset and howls the house down when that happens.

I can honestly say I was originallly opposed to getting another husky when we only had 1, however it really is easier when you have 2 in this regard. The attention they tend to pass off on to each other rather than on to yourself.

We are so lucky in some way's the first few weeks Dora went through the following, 2 of my bags, garden boots, few pork chops, dust bin (we have now removed) gloves socks but it stopped with in 6 weeks just got remember not to leave pork chops on the kitchen top,she settled very well and very quickly in some ways, while she was in rescue centre and we walked her she pulled like a horse and still does at times its a route march when i take her out and jack is at home all she want to do get back home quickly (she does it with jack when i am here as well ) not all the time just odd times, she loves men she will lay down when she see's one wont move  till she has had a belly rub , but she also has a boyfriend tiny little grey doggie they chat when they meet licks ect , she has a play meets with few huskys loved it also gs puppy , now do i pick the dog for her or do i let her do it (within reason ) she is also still eating corners of cushions on sofa but its getting less

This is what I am thinking it be play mate in hope to make her more secure.

One thing I would say, especially with being a rescue, is before you decide on doing this ensure that you have her accustomed to being around other dogs. Get her socialised so you and ensure that you have as little problems as possible. This you will thank yourself for as it will make your life easy when introducing another.

Yes Marc We will be, We got Dora from hula so probley go back there, there are great there is no time limit on taking a dog so things can go slowly , she is good with other dogs (as long as its not black or brown lab ) she can be hyper with them very playfull as she has biggest paws in the village I do worry about flatting the little ones, but yes it will be a long slow slow plenty of meets b4 we go down that rd
