alexismummyanddaddy
Our girl had her first season and was off her food, now a month later she isn't really interested in it we have tried just leaving it down or feeding her on times morning and night but she just eats a mouthful and lays down. Has she gone off that brand? We are feeding her purina robust puppy or should I buy an adult food now cause she is 1 any suggestions please would be great
robke
I would indeed try a different brand of food before anything else, not get a big bag straight away but like a sample bag. Bindi, before she was spayed, did the same for a few weeks and we just gave her something different and then slowly changed back to her regular food. Emma
Also check the guidelines on the brand you are using to gauge whether to buy adult or puppy food. Some will say 1 year but others are more like 1.5 years etc....
Mazz
We have moved ours off puppy food between 10 and 12 months. But certainly that is not a hard and fast rule. You may have an issue where your dog has simply become a picky eater, or may have simply tired of the regular food. If you do make a change, try to do it gradually to avoid stomach upset. As an alternative, you can steam some rice and mix with boiled chicken bits. Feed that for a day, and then start to mix the new food with the rice and boiled chicken, increasing the dog food amount and reducing the rice and chicken every day. Takes from seven to ten days to safely transition a dog's food.
