Thought this might be an interesting topic. Pretty sure I may have posted it before a long time ago however we have so many more members on here now.

So the question is .. whats you profession?

I am a Software Developer specialising in reporting systems. Our company does software for transport companies, waste companies, freight, hire, warehousing, purchase ordering, however my particular area on the software development side is schools software that is used to track childrens progress in EYFS (a government thing that all primary school students have to be tracked on) using PDAs and PCs in conjuction with each other.

Well sadly I'm in retail LOL but I"m trained in almost every aspect of our store so I"m a bit of anything they need me to be LOL. It's really interesting the different people that come in. When I get home naturally I"m a very busy husky mom. Kiana always has some nasty surprise for me that I usually end up cleaning up and of course Foxy sits in her window and laughs as I grumble. Wouldn't trade them for anything :D

I used to work in a busy restuarant (500 seater) but that closed

jan 2009 and I was out of work until just last week.

100+ job appliacations and 1o interviews later. I'm now a cafe/restuarant

assistant at the Donkey sanctuary. Bloody hard work, can get very busy

over 2000 a day in summer!

All for mininum wage... harder jobs always pay the leastsad.gif

But its better than being on JSA though £50 a week for over a year

was horrible!

I am a Technical Writer, Graphic Artist, Illustrator, IT wanna be. I manage the Publications Department for a high-speed packaging machinery manufacturer. In the past, I've been a drafter, machine designer, purchasing manager, and packaging engineer, and my all time least favorite occupation was in wholesale foods to restaurants and bars, but that was many, many, many years ago.

I'm Maintenance at the Local Health Clinic (Basically Town Hospital)

It's an odd job role. I drive the ambulance, taking the nurse to call outs during the summer/early fall months and it's all done snowmobile the rest of the year. I fix stuff if I can, mop floors and change garbage lol.....basically anything that needs doing.

Well Im a Primary School teacher - currently teaching kids age 6/ 7. Im also part of the SMT and deal with a load of day to day running requirements for the school.

My main area is Assessment - where I have developed a tracking system to track achievement and progress in over 200 kids. All done through the use of excel and shit loads of laborious code.

however my particular area on the software development side is schools software that is used to track childrens progress in EYFS (a government thing that all primary school students have to be tracked on) using PDAs and PCs in conjuction with each other.

Interesting - so you are part of the people I get to moan about every few months for changing how EYFS is tracked!

I was a youth worker for 40 years. For most of that time I was a "detached" worker - combining working directly on the streets with gangs, druggies, and various tearaways in London, with training new workers. It also gave me the opportunity to indulge my interests while encouraging young people to try new things - rock climbing, surfing, video-film making, photography, music technology etc etc.

I loved the job right up until I was made a Senior Manager - the money was good, but being stuck in an office and having to toe the PC line was horrendous. Eventually, when the opportunity arose, I took early retirement. For the past three years I have split my time between our own pack and helping to run SHWA(UK) (which is almost like an unpaid full-time job)
