Rathian Posted May 11, 2010 Report Share Posted May 11, 2010 Hi, On Wednesday we will be bringing home a re-home. She is 3 years old and has been spade. From what the breeder has been telling us she has been to 4 homes and come back each time due to various issues. Our current Husky is a female, 11 months and still intact. Tikaani&Aiyana Posted May 11, 2010 Report Share Posted May 11, 2010 Well done for re-homing The best way for them to meet is on neutral territory, take them for a walk together & let them have a play then you can gage from there how you think they will get on. Don't bring the new one into the house until you have done this as your current girl may not like them being on her territory. There are bound to bo some minor disagreements now and again. valkyries Posted May 11, 2010 Report Share Posted May 11, 2010 hi i have a boy Odin still intact first we got a rehome girl she had spade and things were good, then we rehomed Thor spade male and things were not so good at first. We had some fights abit of blood but only for the first week or so, we started of by jumping in but in the end we left them to sort it out them selves. The boys are now best mates. I'm not sure if it will be the same with girls but if it is only jump in if you realy need to, they have to sort themselves out and it dont last, they will get along great once they sort out their place xxxxxxxx good luck oh i introduce all off lead in the garden when they first come into the house less intemidating xxxx but they did all meet beforehand at the centers we got them from xx Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rathian Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Share Posted May 11, 2010 We visited the breeder on Sunday as it was the one we had our baby from. She was let loose with all the breeders 7 dogs and seemed to get on with all of them which included the one up for re-home. Andy Posted May 11, 2010 Report Share Posted May 11, 2010 Last week we introduced Darwin a Neutered male to Koda intact 20 week puppy and Echo 2 year old speyed white GSD. We took Koda with us and introduced them in Darwins home environment. . .he was a bit domineering nipping and climbing over her and standing over her. But we expected that. koda is quite timid and always submits to bigger strange dogs. Otherwise he was well behaved. introducing him to Echo we knew was going to be more difficult. She is a rescue dog and was not socialised properly and can be aggresssive towards strange dogs. So we arranged to bring them together in a local park. The council were renovating a kiddy park and it was finished but still had a 6 foot metal fence around it. . . Perfect. So I snuck in there with Darwin and let him run around. kelly then came with Koda and echo, we let them all off lead, beause trying to introduce them on lead most dogs get aggressive BECAUSE they are being restrained. Echo was all barky teeth. Darwin ignored her and just chased Koda around the little park. After about half an hour when Echo could see that Darwin wasn't harming Koda and they were just having fun she calmed down. they all walked nicely side by side home and went in together. There was a lot of sniffing and circling around each other' but apart from a few scraps all bloodless apart from one scratch on Darwins muzzle. (echo always being dominant in the fight) they have got on really well. Considering Echo's poor socia.lisation we were expecting a lot more aggression from her however it has gone really well. That was our experience. . . Yours being more freindly and having already met should be a lot easier. (lol famous last words. . . lauraxxx29 Posted May 11, 2010 Report Share Posted May 11, 2010 Hi when i took on Akia 2mths ago we went for a walk with willow Let them run around and then I walked them both for about 20mins before bringing Akia into the house. Willow did not seem bothered at all that she was here they played in the garden together on the first day. Come the evening They both slept on the same blanket. I do think a good walk together then leading them into the house really helped them join together. Hope all goes well with you and you have a very happy life together as i have found having two no difference from having one. Good luck.
