Hi Everyone

I wanted to introduce myself as am new to the board. My name is Tanya and I'm 27 and live in Southend, Essex.

My partner and I have recently (last Saturday) rehomed two dogs, one of which is a 1 year old Siberian Husky called Rio and the other is a 2 year old West Highland Terrier called Max :)

They have been rehomed as their previous owners were leaving them on average 11-13 hours a day and only taking them out for walks 2/3 times a week (!) and decided that this was unfair and put them up for rehoming. We got them on Saturday and so far they have settled in really well. On reflection I think they may have also rehomed because of Rio's nature (he is a very gentle soul and is very loving but very excitable around other dogs and pulls hard out on walks etc - hardly surprising when he hasn't had decent exercise or any form of puppy training etc and being left for so long each day!) because on Tuesday night they rung us up and asked for just Max to be given back!

In the politest possible way I refused, obviously I asked if their living arrangements had suddenly changed and they wouldn't be leaving them for that amount of time and would be exercising etc and they said no! Plus they made such a big thing to the rescue centre about needing them to be rehomed together but within a couple of days they just want one back!?!

Anyway I'm starting to babble on now so will keep it brief but just wanted to say hi!

Trying to upload some pictures now, need to get some better ones as the one I do have doesn't do Rio justice, he is extremely beautiful (but I am of course biased!)

Bye for now....

Tanya

Welcome to the pack.

Well done for taking on Rio and Max. biggrin.gif

Yeah, sounds like they just want the easy one back.

Well done for keeping hold of Max, NOT necessarily because THEY still wouldn't be looking after him properly BUT. . . .

Rio is used to the company of Max and Huskies get separation anxiety,

Max is actually a stabilising influence on Rio for those times when YOU do have to go out.

He has his friend and some company.

In short he and Max are a pack.
